Waco Police Investigating Homicide After Shooting Victim Dies

Waco Police Department Special Crimes detectives are searching for a suspect in a homicide investigation after a shooting victim succumbed to his injuries.

Officers responded to a call in the 2600 block of Grim Avenue on February 22, 2025, at approximately 12:50 p.m. Upon arrival, they found 44-year-old Randy Carpenter suffering from a gunshot wound. Carpenter was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but was officially pronounced deceased on February 28, 2025.

With Carpenter's death, the case has been reclassified as a homicide. Police have not yet identified or located a suspect.

Authorities urge anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 254-753-HELP (4357). Tips can be submitted anonymously, and information leading to an arrest could result in a reward of up to $2,000.

This marks the second homicide investigation in Waco for 2025.
