Late Wednesday night, March 12, an Irving Police officer attempted to stop a driver exhibiting erratic behavior. When the officer initiated the traffic stop, the driver accelerated in an attempt to evade authorities.
During the pursuit, an officer observed the driver discarding an item from the vehicle. Officers eventually stopped the driver and took him into custody. The suspect was identified as 24-year-old Bryan Ivan Lopez-Urrutia.
Lopez-Urrutia was found to be intoxicated and was booked into the Irving Jail at 1:08 a.m. on Thursday, March 13. He faces charges including DWI - Open Container, Evading Arrest Detention with a Vehicle, Tamper/Fabricate Physical Evidence, and Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1/1-B.
