Nearly 50 Dogs Rescued from Alleged Animal Cruelty Situation in Watauga

Authorities have rescued nearly 50 Rottweilers and other animals from what is being described as an animal cruelty situation in Watauga earlier this month. The animals were reportedly living in filth at a home connected to a rescue organization.

Watauga officials began their investigation on Geyser Trail after receiving a call on March 1 about an adult who had been severely bitten by a dog. Animal services removed the dog involved in the attack. During the investigation, police discovered 47 Rottweilers, two American Staffordshire Terriers, a mixed-breed terrier, and a cat inside the residence.

Many of the animals were in poor health and required emergency medical care. Authorities noted the animals were living in "dangerously unsanitary conditions." Disturbing images captured by the Humane Society of North Texas showed kennels covered in urine and feces, with at least one emaciated Rottweiler.

The animals are now in the care of authorities, and those interested in adopting are encouraged to visit www.fortworthtexas.gov/animals to view available dogs.
