On March 17, 20-year-old Malichi Brown pleaded guilty to engaging in organized crime-murder and was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
The case stems from a January 28, 2022, incident when Brown, then 17, and another man approached 25-year-old Levondric "LV" DeAnthony Ford as Ford was strapping his baby into a car seat outside his grandmother's home in Southeast Fort Worth. During an attempted robbery, Ford attempted to retrieve a weapon to defend himself but was shot and killed by Brown.
Ford was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead an hour after the shooting. His cause of death was listed as multiple gunshot wounds. Ford's grandmother witnessed the shooting from the porch of her home in the 3900 block of Clotell Drive.
Brown, a known gang member identified as "15," now faces 30 years in prison. The case against his accomplice is still pending.
