A 5-year-old child was tragically struck and killed by a Granbury Independent School District (GISD) school bus on Monday, March 17, 2025, at approximately 6:04 a.m.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the school bus was traveling northeast on Pecos River Drive when it stopped to pick up students. As the bus began to pull away, the child ran up to the driver’s side and in front of the bus, where he was struck by the front right of the vehicle.
The young victim was transported to a nearby hospital but was later pronounced deceased due to the injuries sustained in the accident.
Granbury ISD released a statement expressing their sorrow:
"It is with a heavy heart that I share with you the news that one of our Emma Roberson Early Learning Academy students passed away this morning due to an incident involving one of our buses. We are heartbroken by the loss of one of our students. Please join me in keeping the family and our schools in your thoughts and prayers during this devastating time."
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
