On the night of Monday, March 17, 2025, an Irving Police officer initiated a traffic stop on a driver suspected of being impaired. The driver, later identified as 29-year-old Dionicio Mendoza, accelerated and fled the scene, prompting a high-speed pursuit. Officers successfully stopped the vehicle and took Mendoza into custody.
A search of the vehicle revealed illegal drugs. Mendoza was booked into the Irving Jail at 2:49 AM on Tuesday, facing charges of Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), Evading Arrest/Detention with a Vehicle, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1/1-B, which is commonly associated with methamphetamine or fentanyl.
In addition to these charges, Mendoza had 8 open warrants from the Arlington Police Department and the Grand Prairie Police Department.
