Cody Mayo, 28, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for each count of Aggravated Sexual Assault and Aggravated Kidnapping Sexual Abuse, after pleading guilty in a Dallas County courtroom.
The case stemmed from an incident in November 2024, when Mayo picked up the victim under the pretense of spending time together. Immediately upon picking her up, he placed her in a chokehold. After breaking free, the victim was forced into the backseat of Mayo's car. He then strangled her until she vomited, urinated, and lost consciousness, at which point he raped her.
Upon regaining consciousness, the victim attempted to escape, but Mayo grabbed her and forced her into the trunk of his car. While driving, the victim managed to pull the emergency latch and escape. Wearing only a shirt, she ran through a nearby apartment complex until she reached a friend's apartment, where she obtained a weapon for self-defense. Mayo fled the scene.
Two weeks later, Mayo was apprehended with the victim's clothes and urine remover, which he had purchased the night of the incident, in his vehicle.
Faced with a jury trial, Mayo pleaded guilty to both charges. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison for each offense.
The prosecution team included Lead Prosecutor Haley Pratt, Second Chair Trey Stock, DA Investigator Abigail Cruz, and DA Victim Advocate Adriana Sellers.
