Cody Douglas Hensley, 34, a homeless individual, has been arrested after burglarizing vehicles and assaulting a police officer in Irving on Sunday, March 30th.
At approximately 3:59 AM, Irving Police 911 Dispatch received a call regarding a burglary in progress involving a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox in the 2100 block of W. Grauwyler Rd., at the Villas del Sol Apartments near the W. Irving Blvd/N. Story Rd intersection.
Upon arrival, officers spotted Hensley, who fled on foot. During the subsequent attempt to apprehend him, Hensley assaulted a male police officer. He was eventually subdued with the assistance of multiple officers.
Hensley was found to be in possession of a large buck knife. Officers also seized a mountain bike, the ownership of which remains unclear.
Hensley is charged with:
- Burglary of a Vehicle with 2+ previous convictions
- Evading Arrest Detention
- Assaulting a Peace Officer
He was booked into the Irving Jail and later transferred to the Dallas County Jail. His bond has been set at $37,000.
At the time of his arrest, Hensley was out on bond for three counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance. His criminal history includes:
- 2013-2015: Two years in state prison for drug charges, following an arrest by Irving Police.
- 2018: Five years of probation for Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance.
- 2019: Conviction for Burglary of Vehicles, resulting in a short jail stint.
Despite being listed as homeless in the arrest report, court records reveal Hensley's history of living in various apartments throughout Irving.
