Man Arrested After Fleeing Irving Traffic Stop; Wanted for Family Violence

An Irving Police officer's routine traffic stop on Monday night, April 7th, resulted in the arrest of a 26-year-old man who provided false information and attempted to flee.

The driver, identified as Tubbie Dwayne Shelton Jr., was pulled over for a traffic violation. According to police, Shelton was uncooperative and gave the officer false identifying information. During the investigation, Shelton attempted to escape on foot but was apprehended after a brief pursuit.

A subsequent search revealed marijuana in Shelton's possession. Further investigation uncovered that Shelton was wanted in Dallas for assault/family violence.

Shelton was transported to the Irving Jail and booked at 10:42 PM on Monday. The following day, he was transferred to the Dallas County Jail. He is now charged with Failing to Identify as a Fugitive Providing False Information, Evading Arrest Detention, and Possession of Marijuana. Additionally, Shelton had two outstanding warrants for Family Violence/Assault and four warrants for traffic violations from the Dallas City Marshal's Office and the Wilmer Police Department.
