The Irving Police Department is celebrating Officer Joshua Wright, who has been honored as the Texas CIT Association's Mental Health Officer of the Year.
Officer Wright, a Crisis Response Officer with the Irving PD, has been with the department since 2010. He is also a U.S. Army veteran, having served over four years in Germany as a Fireteam Leader - E5.
This prestigious award recognizes Officer Wright's exceptional dedication and compassionate service to individuals experiencing mental health crises. His work embodies the positive impact of law enforcement and mental health collaboration.
The award was presented during the 2025 Texas CIT Association Conference, held in San Marcos, TX, from April 6-9.
The Texas CIT Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing standardized training, support, and education for law enforcement, corrections, the mental health community, and advocacy groups in responding to individuals affected by mental illness or experiencing mental health crises.
