Mutual Aid Assists in Extinguishing Extensive Fort Worth Brush Fire; Two Firefighters Injured

Fort Worth Fire Department crews battled a large grass and brush fire at the Silver Creek Materials site in the 2200 block of Silver Creek Road on Sunday afternoon.

The fire, reported to the Alarm Office, involved a significant pile of mulch, pallets, and discarded residential materials. The site's location, approximately 1 to 1.5 miles off the main road, presented challenges for firefighters in accessing a sufficient water supply. While some water was available on the property, a larger volume was needed to effectively combat the blaze.

As approximately 7,000 feet of supply lines were being laid, strong winds caused the fire to spread to an extremely large pile of tires and other combustible materials, resulting in a massive, dark plume of smoke visible for miles.

The operation was extensive, with crews finally leaving the scene just after 6:00 a.m. this morning. Two firefighters sustained minor injuries, and no structures were damaged in the fire.

Mutual aid was provided by the fire departments of Lake Worth, Saginaw, River Oaks, Sansom Park, Azle, White Settlement, and Benbrook, as well as the Tarrant County Fire Marshal's Office.
