8-Year-Old Girl Attacked by Coyote While Walking in Frisco Neighborhood

A young girl was injured in a coyote attack while walking with her mother on the afternoon of May 26, 2025, in the Lexington Park Community near Lacy Lane and Tall Timbers Trail.

At approximately 4:05 p.m., the 8-year-old was walking slightly ahead of her mother when a coyote approached and attacked her. She sustained non-life-threatening injuries, including scratches and a bite. Her mother was able to quickly chase the animal away, preventing further harm.

Frisco Animal Services Officers, with assistance from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Texas Wildlife Services Program, launched an investigation under the city’s Urban Wildlife Management Plan. As part of their response, three coyotes were located and removed from the neighborhood in the early hours of May 28. The animals have been sent for testing.

Authorities urge residents to take precautions when outdoors, including carrying noise-making devices such as whistles or airhorns, keeping pets on leashes, securing trash, and avoiding feeding or approaching wildlife. Aggressive animal sightings should be reported to the Frisco Police Department at (972) 292-6010 or by calling 911.
