Two teenagers were killed and a third injured in a fatal collision between a pickup truck and an 18-wheeler on Highway 380 near County Road 4011, east of Decatur, early Monday morning, June 16.
At approximately 6:44 AM, emergency responders were dispatched to the scene of the crash. A preliminary investigation indicates that a pickup truck, attempting to cross Highway 380 from Private Road 4011, was struck by an 18-wheeler. The impact of the collision caused the 18-wheeler to overturn.
The 16-year-old female driver of the pickup truck was transported by ambulance to a trauma center, where she was tragically pronounced deceased from her injuries. A 13-year-old male passenger in the pickup truck was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A third occupant of the pickup, a 12-year-old female, was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the 18-wheeler sustained no serious injuries.
