On Sunday, June 22, at around 8:00 p.m., 26-year-old Michael Rigsby was reported missing to the Irving Police Department. His mother posted on Facebook that he was last seen at 3:45 a.m. that day in Irving, and that his last message was sent at 5:19 a.m., stating he was home lying down.
Family members said concern grew when Rigsby did not show up for church that morning, where he regularly played music at The Bridge Frisco church. According to family, he never missed a Sunday service.
On the night before his disappearance, Saturday, June 21, Rigsby performed a gig at the Free Man Lounge in Dallas. After the show, he reportedly gave a ride to two individuals to Frisco. Police confirmed that he dropped them off during the early morning hours of June 22.
On Monday, June 23, at approximately 9:00 a.m., Rigsby was found deceased in the 8600 block of Hickory Street in Frisco, according to the Frisco Police Department.
The Frisco Police Department is leading the investigation into his death, while Irving Police stated their investigators "will assist with the investigation in any way needed." No further details have been released, and the cause of death has not been made public.
Rigsby was known as a talented musician and served as the organist at The Bridge Frisco church, formerly The Potter's House of North Dallas, a campus of the Dallas megachurch The Potter's House.
In a tribute posted online, The Bridge Frisco wrote, “Mike was a faithful and steady presence in our band, whose passion for music and worship resonated through every note he played. His contribution to our sacred sound will be profoundly missed.”
Rigsby had roots in Texarkana and began playing instruments during his youth in church. The investigation into his death remains ongoing.
