DALLAS, TX – A Dallas County jury has sentenced 42-year-old Munson Omar Dyas Powell to two years in prison after finding him guilty of Indecency with a Child Involving Sexual Contact.
The case, which dates back to a November 2022 arrest by the DeSoto Police Department, concluded on August 1, 2025, with a jury conviction.
Powell was originally charged with Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Young Child, but after hearing testimony and arguments, the jury found him guilty of the lesser charge. Jurors had the option to sentence Powell to between 2 and 20 years in prison but ultimately opted for the minimum sentence of two years. The case was led by Prosecutor Joel Abraham with assistance from Ward Weber.
