Fort Worth Officers Honored for Life-Saving Actions in Infant Rescue

On Tuesday, November 18, Cook Children’s Hospital recognized Fort Worth Officer Edwin Bounds and Sgt. Ryan Nichols for their heroic efforts in saving an infant trapped beneath a wrecked vehicle.

With the assistance of courageous bystanders, the officers were able to free the child, perform CPR, and successfully revive her. Their quick and decisive actions sustained the infant until the Fort Worth Fire Department arrived to transport her to Cook Children’s Hospital for further care.

Both Officer Bounds and Sgt. Nichols received Certificates of Recognition and trauma challenge coins from Cook Children’s Hospital in acknowledgment of their extraordinary professionalism and bravery.

“We are incredibly proud of Sgt. Nichols and Officer Bounds for their courage and dedication to protecting our community,” the Fort Worth Police Department said. “We also extend our gratitude to Cook Children’s Hospital for honoring their heroic efforts and to the citizens who stepped up without hesitation to help save a life.”
