Late Friday night on November 28, Irving Police Dispatch received a 911 call reporting that a driver had struck a parked vehicle and fled the scene. Officers quickly located the vehicle involved and were able to safely stop the driver, identified as 25-year-old Alex Daniel Larin of Irving.
During a search of the vehicle, officers found an unlicensed firearm and illegal drugs. Police also determined that Larin was intoxicated. He was taken into custody and booked into the Irving Jail at 2:38 a.m. on Sunday.
Larin is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance PG2 between 4 and 400 grams, a second-degree felony that carries a possible sentence of two to twenty years in prison and a fine of up to ten thousand dollars. He is also charged with Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, Duty on Striking an Unattended Vehicle, and DWI Open Container.
The investigation remains ongoing.
