CeeDee Lamb Nears Return After Scary Concussion as Cowboys Prepare for Vikings

FRISCO, Texas - Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is trending toward a return this week after suffering a concussion during last Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions.

Lamb’s head struck the turf hard after a play at Ford Field, briefly knocking him unconscious and causing his hands to lock up — a frightening scene similar to injuries previously seen with other NFL players. He was ruled out immediately and entered the league’s concussion protocol.

Since then, Lamb has made steady progress and returned to full practice on Thursday. He said the past few days have been focused on rest, meeting each step of the protocol, and pushing himself during neurological checks.

He admitted he tried to stay in the game after the hit, but looking back, he’s grateful the team’s medical staff stepped in.

“As a competitor, I didn’t want to leave,” Lamb said. “But there are times when they have to protect me from myself, and that was one of them. I’m thankful for the training staff and everyone who reached out. I’m just blessed to keep doing what I love.”

Head coach Brian Schottenheimer said Lamb has “one or two” more benchmarks to clear before he’s fully released.

Quarterback Dak Prescott, who was one of the first to check on Lamb after the injury, said he’s confident in where his teammate stands now.

“You never want to see anyone in that position,” Prescott said. “But when I ran over to him, he was already coming back around. He’s been great this week.”

Lamb traveled home with the team without assistance and worked out on Monday before progressing to full practice later in the week.

With only days to go before the Cowboys host the Minnesota Vikings at AT&T Stadium, signs point to Lamb being available barring a late setback — reassuring news for Dallas after a close call that shook players and fans alike.
