Everman Firefighters Rescue Dogs, Contain House Fire Within Minutes on West Barron Avenue

EVERMAN, Texas - Quick action and coordinated teamwork helped Everman firefighters bring a residential fire under control and safely rescue two dogs early Wednesday morning.

Just after 8 a.m. on January 7, Everman Fire Department crews were dispatched to a reported house fire in the 800 block of West Barron Avenue. Within three minutes of the call, Truck 19 and Tanker 19 arrived on scene and immediately declared a working fire.

Firefighters encountered heavy fire conditions coming from the rear of the home and extending into the attic space. Crews launched an aggressive interior attack while simultaneously conducting a primary search of the residence to ensure no occupants were inside.

During that initial search, firefighters located a dog inside a bedroom. The animal was safely removed from the home and reunited with the homeowners, unharmed. Crews continued suppression efforts and completed both primary and secondary searches within 20 minutes of arrival, ultimately bringing the fire under control.

Everman firefighters were assisted on scene by the Rendon Fire Department and Forest Hill Fire Department. Through the coordinated response, crews were able to limit the spread of the fire, salvage much of the homeowners’ personal property, and locate a second dog that had initially been unaccounted for.

No injuries were reported.

Everman Fire officials also extended special thanks to the Kennedale Fire Department for providing coverage during the incident and for responding to a major traffic accident while Everman crews were committed to the fire scene.

Fire officials credited the fast response and strong interagency cooperation for the successful outcome.
