IRVING, Texas — Irving police officers and representatives from the Irving Municipal Court recently joined students and parents at Sam Houston Middle School for a Community and Coffee event focused on building stronger relationships with the community.
The event brought together families, students and officers for an open discussion about public safety, youth programs and the role law enforcement plays in the community.
During the gathering, officers answered questions and shared information on several topics, including free programs available to youth and families, parents’ rights regarding discipline, and the legal consequences that can follow criminal behavior.
Officials also discussed youth referral programs designed to help guide young people toward positive choices and provide resources when issues arise.
Irving police said the event was intended to encourage open communication and strengthen partnerships between officers, students and families in the community.
The department thanked the parents and students who attended and said it plans to continue hosting similar outreach events in the future.
