IRVING, Texas — A 22-year-old man was arrested after a late-night hit-and-run crash that left a truck wrapped around a utility pole, according to Irving Police.
Officers responded around 11:52 p.m. on March 28 to the 3800 block of West Pioneer Drive, where they found a blue 2006 Chevrolet 3500 crashed into a telephone pole. Inside the vehicle, officers located an open beer can and documents identifying the driver as Ezekiel Garcia III.
Witnesses told police that Garcia sideswiped a white Honda Odyssey before veering off the road and crashing into the pole. They said the driver then exited the truck and got into the passenger seat of a Chevrolet Corvette that had been following him, which then fled the scene.
Police said the incident was captured on video and reviewed by investigators.
Officers later located the Corvette at a residence in the 1800 block of S. Harvard Street, where Garcia was found in the driveway. According to police, Garcia admitted he had been driving the truck at the time of the crash and told officers he had consumed six beers prior to driving. Officers noted he appeared visibly intoxicated.
Garcia was taken into custody and booked into the Irving Jail. He is charged with Driving While Intoxicated with an Open Alcohol Container and Accident Involving Damage to a Vehicle.
Garcia has since bonded out of jail, and his case remains pending.
