Irving Man Arrested for Assaulting Girlfriend at Lewisville Apartment; Cocaine Found During Booking

Alfredo Espinoza

LEWISVILLE, Texas — An Irving man was arrested on assault and drug charges following a domestic disturbance that prompted a police response at an apartment complex Sunday morning, according to authorities.

Lewisville police were dispatched around 8:44 a.m. on April 12, 2026, to the Arbor Creek Apartments in the 300 block of East Southwest Parkway. A caller reported hearing an argument, loud commotion, items falling, and a woman yelling for help from a neighboring apartment.

When officers arrived, they made contact with the victim, described as a Hispanic woman, outside the apartment while another officer spoke with the suspect, identified as Alfredo Espinoza of Irving, inside the residence. Officers observed visible injuries on the victim consistent with a physical altercation.

Due to language barriers, officers used a translation application on a body-worn camera to communicate with both parties.

Espinoza told officers he had been in a dating relationship with the victim for approximately six months and had stayed overnight at her apartment. He denied any physical violence, claiming the argument was only verbal.

The victim initially provided limited details, often giving vague or brief answers and avoiding direct responses when asked about the incident. She also refused to allow officers to photograph her injuries. Officers noted that victims of domestic violence sometimes hesitate to fully disclose details out of concern for the suspect.

The victim confirmed the relationship and said the argument began when Espinoza was preparing to leave the apartment that morning. She first described the incident as verbal but later acknowledged there had been a “struggle.” She remained vague about specifics and did not elaborate on how the injuries occurred.

Officers noted the presence of surveillance cameras inside the living room and on the exterior door. The victim said officers could review the footage, but stated the incident occurred in the bedroom and was not captured on camera.

Espinoza suggested the marks on the victim may have resulted from sexual activity the night before, but the victim denied that claim.

As questioning continued, the victim ultimately admitted the injuries were caused during the altercation. She told officers she did not want Espinoza arrested but requested a protective order and for him to be criminally trespassed from her apartment.

Based on the injuries observed and inconsistencies in statements, officers determined there was probable cause that Espinoza intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly caused bodily injury, and he was arrested for assault causing bodily injury to a family member.

While being transported to jail, Espinoza made a statement claiming the victim had assaulted him by hitting his forearms. Officers advised him that any further statements would require a formal interview after Miranda warnings.

During booking at the Lewisville Jail, officers conducted a routine search of Espinoza’s belongings, including two cell phones. Inside the case of one phone, they found a small plastic bag containing a white powdery substance. The substance later tested positive for cocaine using a field test kit.

Espinoza denied knowledge of the substance.

He was charged with assault causing bodily injury to a family member and possession of less than one gram of cocaine.
