KRUM, Texas — Firefighters responded to a working house fire Wednesday evening while simultaneously managing a second emergency in the area, according to Krum Fire Department officials.
Crews were dispatched shortly after 7 p.m. on April 15, 2026, to a reported fire in the Austin Circle area. The call was quickly upgraded after reports indicated a possible person trapped inside.
When firefighters arrived, they found a two-story home with an active fire on the rear side of the structure that had spread into the attic.
Officials said the homeowner was able to escape the residence before crews arrived.
Firefighters initiated an aggressive fire attack and conducted an additional search of the home. With assistance from multiple mutual aid agencies, the fire was brought under control. No injuries were reported.
While crews were still working the scene, a second structure fire was dispatched within the department’s response area. With most units committed to the first fire, only a few chief officers were available to respond and diverted to assess the situation.
Officials later confirmed the second incident was not an active structure fire.
Fire officials said the situation highlights the importance of staffing and available fire stations to meet growing demand.
Agencies assisting on the primary fire included Justin Fire Department, Ponder Volunteer Fire Department, Denton Fire Department, and Sanger Fire Department.
