PLANO, Texas — A March ATM theft investigation in Plano led to the arrest of two suspects after law enforcement agencies tracked them across North Texas using surveillance footage, recovered evidence, and coordinated alerts, according to the Plano Police Department.
Police said officers responded March 27, 2026, to an ATM alarm at a bank in the 7900 block of Preston Road.
When officers arrived, they discovered the ATM had been heavily damaged and its money cassettes removed.
Investigators quickly gathered surveillance video from the scene and identified a suspect vehicle tied to the theft.
Authorities later located the abandoned vehicle nearby, while discarded money cassettes were recovered along the Sam Rayburn Tollway between Ridgeview Drive and Coit Road.
Additional surveillance footage from the area led investigators to a second suspect vehicle traveling south on U.S. Highway 75 near Hutchins.
Plano police then issued a BOLO alert to law enforcement agencies along the U.S. 75 corridor with descriptions of the suspects and vehicles.
A short time later, deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office located a vehicle matching the alert information and conducted a traffic stop.
Deputies recovered more than $15,000 in cash and additional evidence allegedly connecting the suspects to the ATM theft in Plano.
Investigators said two suspects were arrested on warrants obtained by Plano police detectives, with additional charges pending.
Plano police thanked the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office for assisting in the investigation, noting that communication and coordination between agencies played a major role in the arrests and recovery of stolen property.
