IRVING, Texas - An Irving woman is facing multiple charges after police say she repeatedly misused the 911 system, threatened emergency communications personnel, and attempted to flee from officers.
According to the Irving Police Department, officers responded around 10:34 p.m. May 18 to the area of N. Britain Road and E. Grauwyler Road following multiple 911 calls.
Investigators said 29-year-old Meghan Katherine Rust called the department’s communications center seven times throughout the evening when no emergency existed.
Police said Rust yelled profanities and made threats toward four emergency communications officers who answered the calls.
Officer Andrew Hammett, who has served with the department since August 2019, located Rust on E. Grauwyler Road while operating a marked patrol vehicle and wearing a police uniform.
Authorities said Hammett gave Rust verbal commands to stop walking away, but she ignored the commands and later ran after being informed she was under arrest.
Rust was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit, according to police.
Investigators said Rust refused to cooperate during transport to the Irving Jail by refusing to stand or walk, forcing officers to physically carry her into both the patrol vehicle and later into the jail.
She has been charged with silent or abusive calls to a 911 service, evading arrest on foot, and resisting arrest.
Dallas County court records show that Rust has an extensive arrest history in Dallas, Denton, and Tarrant counties.
She was arrested by Irving police on April 18 for public intoxication and possession of marijuana. Prior to that, she was arrested March 10 on charges of terroristic threat to provoke panic and resisting arrest, later receiving a 30-day county jail sentence.
That was actually the second sentence this year. Rust had been arrested multiple times in 2025 for evading arrest and criminal trespassing and was sentenced Jan. 12, 2026, to 30 days in county jail which she served.
