Undercover Investigation Leads to Gambling Charges in South Irving

Nishant Karki

IRVING, Texas - An employee at an alleged illegal game room in South Irving was arrested after undercover investigators documented gambling activity and executed a search warrant at the business, according to the Irving Police Department.

On May 28, 2026, Irving Police vice investigators conducted an undercover operation at a business in the 1100 block of Luke Street that authorities suspected was operating as an illegal game room.

According to investigators, undercover officers entered the business and played digital gaming devices inside the establishment. Police said three undercover vice investigators both won and lost money while playing the machines, which investigators said confirmed the devices were being used as illegal gambling machines.

After gathering evidence, officers executed a search warrant at the business.

During the search, officers located a single employee inside the establishment, identified as 21-year-old Nishant Karki.

Investigators said Karki was responsible for controlling access to the secured business by allowing customers to enter and exit the location.

Police also found Karki in possession of keys used to access the machines' motherboards and cash boxes.

According to the investigation, undercover officers observed Karki interacting with customers, servicing gaming machines, and handling currency associated with the gambling devices on the day the search warrant was executed.

Investigators also recovered a ledger that allegedly contained customer names, dates of play, and records of money spent inside the business.

Based on the evidence collected during the investigation, Karki was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Gambling Device
  • Keeping a Gambling Place
  • Gambling Promotion

The investigation remains ongoing.
