Waco Woman Wanted for Probation Violation on Arson Conviction Arrested in Lewisville

Heather Leigh Simpson

LEWISVILLE, Texas — A Waco woman convicted of arson after allegedly setting fire to a homeless camp in a fit of jealousy has been arrested in Lewisville on a warrant alleging she violated the terms of her probation.

Lewisville Police officers took 49-year-old Heather Leigh Simpson into custody on June 18, 2026. Jail records show she was booked into the Lewisville Jail at 5:26 p.m.

Simpson was wanted by authorities in McLennan County after a warrant was issued in May 2026 seeking to revoke her probation related to an arson conviction.

Her bond was set at $253,000.

The underlying case dates back to February 2025, when Waco Fire Department crews responded to a grass fire behind the Red Roof Inn in the 700 block of South Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

According to the arrest affidavit, witnesses identified Simpson as the person who started the fire.

Investigators learned the fire originated in a homeless camp near Indian Spring Park. A witness who knew Simpson told authorities she admitted starting the fire after seeing her boyfriend with another woman.

According to the affidavit, Simpson reportedly told the witness that she started the fire but was unable to extinguish it. Investigators said she left the area without contacting emergency responders or attempting to obtain help as the fire continued to burn.

At the time of her arrest in the arson case, Simpson also had outstanding warrants for Threatening Assault and Assault Family Violence.

On Nov. 7, 2025, Simpson was convicted and sentenced to probation in the arson case.

Authorities allege she later violated the conditions of that probation, prompting McLennan County officials to seek a motion to revoke her probation earlier this year.

Lewisville officers located and arrested Simpson without incident.

She is expected to be transferred to McLennan County authorities to address the pending probation revocation proceedings.
