IRVING, Texas - A 17-year-old Irving girl was arrested early Monday after police say she assaulted her mother during a domestic dispute at a home in the Plymouth Park neighborhood.
Officers with the Irving Police Department responded at approximately 12:37 a.m. on July 6 to the 2600 block of Yale Street after receiving a report of a domestic disturbance in progress.
When officers arrived, they found the victim outside the residence speaking with a 911 dispatcher.
According to police, the victim told officers she had been arguing with her 17-year-old daughter, Catherine Diaz, after attempting to discipline her. The mother said Diaz was trying to leave the home without her permission.
Investigators said the mother attempted to prevent Diaz from leaving by pulling her hair as the teen tried to exit through both the front and back doors. During the struggle, police said Diaz repeatedly grabbed and scratched her mother.
Officers observed visible injuries on the victim, including a raised scratch on her left forearm and fingernail marks.
Diaz was arrested and charged with continuous violence against the family.
According to police, Diaz was previously arrested on July 27, 2025, in connection with a domestic violence incident involving her brother.
