AZLE, Texas - A Fort Worth man has been arrested on two counts of capital murder after authorities found two women dead inside an Azle home Thursday morning.
According to the Azle Police Department, officers and firefighters were dispatched at approximately 9:30 a.m. on July 16 to the 200 block of Stewart Bend Court to investigate a suspicious situation.
Because of the circumstances surrounding the call, officers entered the residence to conduct a welfare check.
Inside the home, investigators found two adult women, identified as a mother and daughter, dead from apparent gunshot wounds.
The Azle Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division worked with the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Rangers to investigate the deaths.
Authorities said investigators used evidence collected at the scene along with information from FLOCK camera technology to identify 64-year-old Joseph Morris Gordon of Fort Worth as the suspect.
Investigators allege Gordon murdered his wife and mother-in-law before leaving the scene.
The Texas Rangers took Gordon into custody, and he was booked into the Parker County Jail on two counts of capital murder.
Officials said the investigation remains active, and no additional information has been released.
