IRVING, Texas - An Irving traffic stop for multiple traffic violations led to the arrest of a Celina woman after a police K-9 alerted to narcotics inside the vehicle, resulting in the discovery of methamphetamine and more than 10 grams of GHB, according to the Irving Police Department.
The arrest occurred on July 29 after an Irving police investigator observed a white Subaru commit several traffic violations near North Belt Line Road and West Irving Boulevard.
According to police, the investigator saw the Subaru fail to stop at the stop line before making a right turn onto Irving Boulevard. The driver then cut through the Pep Boys Auto parking lot before returning to North Belt Line Road.
Because the investigator was unable to initiate a traffic stop, he radioed a description of the vehicle to other officers.
A short time later, the Subaru continued north on North Belt Line Road, where the driver failed to signal before turning onto the eastbound State Highway 183 service road. Another Irving officer witnessed the violation and conducted a traffic stop.
The driver was identified as 25-year-old Jeffrey Threatt. He was arrested for the traffic violations, later paid the required fines and was released.
K-9 Search Leads to Drug Discovery
During the stop, the officer noticed suspicious circumstances involving both the occupants and the vehicle and requested a K-9 unit.
Irving Police K-9 Vito conducted a free-air sniff around the Subaru and alerted to the presence of narcotics.
Based on the alert, officers searched the vehicle and located approximately 0.1 grams of methamphetamine on the front passenger floorboard where 25-year-old Brittney Rose Kiel of Celina was seated.
Investigators also recovered a bottle containing approximately 10.6 grams of GHB from the same area.
Kiel was arrested and transported to the Irving Jail.
During the booking process, a female detention officer conducted a strip search and discovered two empty syringes and an empty clear plastic bag concealed on Kiel.
Kiel was charged with:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1/1-B under one gram (methamphetamine)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1/1-B between four and 200 grams (GHB)
Her bond was set at $75,000.
Extensive Criminal Record
Court records show Kiel has accumulated numerous arrests and convictions across several North Texas counties in recent years.
Her recent arrests include:
- July 16, 2026: Arrested in Dallas for Failure to Identify by Giving False Information.
- Nov. 9, 2025: Arrested by Lewisville police for Theft of Property with Two or More Previous Convictions.
- Sept. 14, 2024: Arrested by Frisco police for Theft and Failure to Identify by Giving False Information.
- April 11, 2024: Arrested by Denton County deputies after failing to appear for a theft court hearing.
- March 11, 2024: Arrested in Collin County on charges of Theft, three additional counts of Theft of Property, and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity.
Those cases are only part of Kiel's criminal history.
Multiple Convictions and Probation Violations
On June 16, 2026, Kiel was convicted of Theft of Property in Denton County and sentenced to 90 days in jail. Because she had already spent 98 days in custody awaiting disposition of the case, she received credit for time served and was released.
Earlier, on April 30, 2024, she was convicted of Theft of Property in Denton County and sentenced to 16 months of community supervision.
After violating the terms of that probation, a judge revoked her supervision on Nov. 12, 2024, sentencing her to 180 days in the Denton County Jail.
In Collin County, Kiel pleaded guilty to Failure to Identify as a Fugitive and, on March 28, 2025, was sentenced to 20 days in jail. Court records show she ultimately spent approximately 120 days in custody while awaiting the resolution of the case.
Kiel also pleaded guilty to Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity through a negotiated plea agreement and was initially placed on four years of deferred adjudication probation. After accumulating additional arrests, prosecutors sought to revoke her probation.
In March 2025, a judge found Kiel violated the terms of her community supervision and sentenced her to two years in jail. Court records indicate she received 229 days of jail credit because she remained incarcerated after her arrest.
The Irving Police Department's investigation into the July 29 traffic stop has been completed.
