Fort Worth, Texas - Fort Worth police are investigating a deadly shooting that left one man dead early Saturday in a north Fort Worth neighborhood. Officers responded to a residence in the 8300 block of North Riverside Drive, an area near the Riverside and Northeast Loop 820 corridor, at roughly 3:36 a.m. on September 26, 2026, after reports of gunfire.
When officers arrived, they found an adult man inside the home suffering from a gunshot wound. Fort Worth Fire Department personnel responded and pronounced him dead at the scene.
A second adult male at the residence surrendered peacefully to officers, raising his hands, and was taken into custody without incident. Investigators say the two men were acquainted, and homicide detectives are currently questioning the detained man as part of the ongoing investigation.
Police believe the shooting was an isolated event and do not think the public is at further risk. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office will determine the official cause and manner of death, as well as confirm the victim's identity.
