Fort Worth, Texas - Fort Worth police responded to a shooting early Sunday morning in the 4300 block of Martin Street, where officers found that gunfire had broken out during a large backyard gathering at a residence. The call came in around 3:32 a.m. on September 20, 2026.
Investigators say the violence began as an argument between a man and a woman who knew each other. Another man stepped in to intervene, and that led to a physical fight between the two men that quickly escalated when both pulled out guns and opened fire, leaving four men shot in total.
Fort Worth Fire Department medics treated the wounded at the scene, but two of the victims died, including the man who had tried to break up the initial dispute. Two others, among them the second man believed to have fired a weapon, were taken to area hospitals with gunshot wounds; their conditions have not been released.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office will confirm the identities of the deceased along with the official cause and manner of death. Fort Worth police say the investigation remains active and preliminary, and they are asking anyone with information to call 817-392-4222 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 817-469-TIPS (8477).
