On September 14, the Dallas County Sheriff's Office took into custody Ragan Sierra Moreno, a Dallas County Public Defender, following an incident involving her conduct with an inmate. A Detention Service Officer (DSO) noticed Moreno spending an excessive amount of time with an individual in custody, who was not her assigned client. Subsequently, DSO initiated an investigation into the matter.
During the course of their inquiry, DSO determined that Moreno had developed a personal relationship with the inmate in question. It was also discovered that she had utilized her Dallas County identification to gain access to both the inmate and the criminal records of another incarcerated individual.
Moreno had been employed by Dallas County for a period of 8 months prior to her arrest. She now faces charges of Abuse of Official Capacity and has posted a bond of $5,000.
