In the early hours of October 1, 2023, Dallas Police responded to a shooting incident at the 11000 block of Harry Hines Blvd. The incident occurred at around 3:45 a.m. involving a uniformed, commissioned security guard, 26-year-old David Thomas, and 32-year-old Marqurius Lambert.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Thomas was escorting Lambert from the property when Lambert retrieved a firearm from his car and placed it in his waistband. A confrontation ensued between the two, leading to a struggle over the weapon. During the altercation, Thomas discharged his weapon, striking Lambert.
After the shooting, Lambert attempted to flee the scene in his vehicle but subsequently crashed. He fled on foot but later sought medical attention for a gunshot wound to his arm at a local hospital around 4:45 a.m. Lambert was treated for his injuries and subsequently arrested.
Lambert has been charged with Assault on a Security Guard and has been taken into custody at the Dallas County Jail. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
