UPDATE: Amber Garcia has been found safe and is being reunited with her family.
DeSoto Police are actively investigating the disappearance of 27-year-old Arlington resident, Amber Garcia, and are reaching out to the public for assistance in locating her.
Ms. Garcia was taken into custody on the morning of December 1st in DeSoto for a misdemeanor, only to be released later the same day. Two days after her release, on December 3rd, Amber's mother, Dalila Correa, started receiving distressing phone calls and text messages, claiming her daughter was being held for ransom.
Concerned for her daughter's safety, Correa promptly contacted Arlington Police to report the alleged ransom requests. However, the case was redirected to DeSoto Police as it was determined to be the location of Garcia's last known whereabouts.
Dalila Correa reached out to DeSoto Police about her missing daughter just before noon on December 5th, prompting an immediate initiation of a missing person investigation.
Amber Garcia is described as a 27-year-old Hispanic female, standing at 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing 115 pounds. D
